BioOnce upon a time Mei was a happy little goatling living with mama goat and the rest of the herd, they spent their days grazing in the calms plains, not bothering anyone and doing goat stuff until one tragic day when the wolves attacked. Mei's mom ushered him to run out of sight while she distracted the wolves, managing even to rip a wolf's ear off during her brave fight to protect her son. The little goat did make it to safety, but his mother wasn't as lucky and got eaten by the wolves. From then on it was Mei's grandmother who took care of raising him in the herd, he never knew how his mother had died. >:
One day much later, while grazing at the hills with some of his goat friends, a storm began to approach so they all ran to hide from it, Mei was left behind and got caught in the rain; terrified of thunders he ran like hell and it didn't take long for him to find an old abandoned barn to hide in, eventually he heard the sound of something that appeared to be hooves walking into the barn and so Mei though another goat had joined him. He was catching a cold from being all wet and it was so dark inside the barn that there was no way to tell who his new companion was. They talked about their favorite feedings spots, about their childhoods and their fears to pass time, but they realized they had a lot in common- even their fear of thunders! So, when the storm was over, they decided they'd meet again for lunch sometime; since they didn't know each others' faces they set a greeting to recognize each other: "One stormy night", and agreed to meet up in front of the barn on the next day.
Mei arrived early and decided to surprise his new friend by hiding behind a tree and awaiting for his arrival, once he heard him approach and use the greeting Mei came out of hiding and returned the greeting happily, but when he opened his eyes and saw his friend he simply could not believe his eyes.. It was a wolf!
Surpassing their basic prey and predator instincts they became best friends, meeting up secretly away from their groups. It was amazing how two creatures so different could have so much in common and get along so well. Mei wasn't afraid of being around the wolf anymore and he felt very happy when Gabu said all he had to do was call for him and he'd be right there to help him anytime.
The herd began to get suspicious about Mei's lone outings, and with the winter approaching and the wolves hunting them more mercilessly it eventually became impossible for him to go out on his own. Some goats went to eat in a location rarely visited by wolves, so Gabu and Mei agreed to meet there, unfortunately the wolves' pack leader decided to take the group hunting there that day, and so it caused a huge mayhem. Gabu rescued Mei from being eaten and hid away with him, both of them returned to their respective groups late at night. Another goat that had escaped the attack had witnessed Mei holding hands with a wolf and she told this to the herd, so when Mei got back he had some questions to answer. He admitted to being friends with a wolf and tried to tell them how he was such a nice wolf but the goats were terrified of the idea, how could a wolf and a goat be friends? They insisted that surely Gabu was using him to get information of where the herd was going and didn't listen when Mei told them they never talked about anything like that. The herd decided they'd make Mei meet up with Gabu one more time to get information of how the wolves were planning on attacking.
It was during a stormy day that they met up again by the river. As it turned out Gabu had also been forced to come to the meeting and try to get information about the herd but neither could bring themselves to do it so... With the whole forest watching, they jumped into the river and got dragged away by it~ Downstream they began their search for a place where they could be happily together, with no one judging their friendship (yes, this is so gay). The wolves were on their tracks all the time as they headed towards a mountain they intended to cross, hoping they'd find another forest on the other side. It was a tough road and a blizzard was blowing full strength, Mei began to lose energy until he finally collapsed in the snow, Gabu dragged him off to a cave and Mei slept there, trying to regain his energy. The goat was aware that without food he wouldn't be able to recover fast enough and offered himself as food for Gabu, saying Gabu is one friend he'd die for. >: Gabu leaves saying he'd do it as if they had just met, but he never returns.
After the blizzard Mei carries on and finds the forest on the other side of the mountain, but he can't feel happy without Gabu being there and just trudges on with life, constantly thinking about his dear friend.
One day the creatures of the forest start saying there's a wolf on the way, immediately Mei gets up and goes up to meet the wolf, sure that it had to be Gabu. And indeed it was! He ran toward his old friend only to end up unconscious. When he woke up he was in a cave, Gabu guarding the entrance. The wolf didn't remember a thing and planned on eating Mei, but Mei didn't want to be eaten by just any wolf, he could accept being eaten by Gabu, but not by anyone else. In his please Mei mentioned the one stormy night and the words seemed to make something click in Gabu's mind, making him remember everything, and so the friends were reunited and they lived happily ever after.
As for Mei's personality.. He's the gentlest goat ever and he'll (unintentionally) kill you with his cuteness. He's a bit naive at times on some matters but at the same time he's really perceptive of others; caring and loyal to a fault, soft-spoken and a rather careless which makes him quite a klutz. He's very cheerful and friendly, accepting and thoughtful. Basically: Mei is love. ♥
